
DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has extended greetings to the members of Buddhist community of Bangladesh and across the world on the occasion of the Buddha Purnima.
In a message today, he said that Gautam Buddha was a symbol of non-violence, equality and compassion. The minister noted that the message of peace introduced by Buddha continues to guide a troubled and turbulent world.
He said that by embracing Buddha’s ideals of compassion, friendship and sacrifice, it is possible to build a discrimination-free, prosperous and peaceful society.
Highlighting Bangladesh as a unique example of communal harmony, he said the people of all religions in the country have long been living together in mutual respect and fraternity.
He also praised the cultural diversity, deep religious traditions and peaceful lifestyle of the people in the CHT, describing them as an integral part of national unity.
The minister called upon all to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the country and the nation by upholding the great ideals of Buddha.
He urged everyone to remain united under the spirit of ‘Bangladesh First’ and to strengthen communal harmony.
He further called for taking collective efforts to build a modern and prosperous Bangladesh by upholding the spirit of the independence and democratic values.
