Two killed in Narayanganj road crash

NARAYANGANJ, May 2, 2026 (BSS) - Two people were killed in a road accident in front of Chaiti Garments in Tipordi area of Sonargaon upazila this morning.

The accident took place on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway when a pineapple-laden mini truck hit an unknown vehicle from behind, causing the truck's front part to twist severely.

The deceased were identified as truck driver Mohammad Ali, 36, son of Sekandar Ali, a resident of Muladi upazila in Barishal, and fruit trader Monir Hossain, 32, son of Khalek Khalifa, a resident of Manikchhari in Khagrachhari.

Fire service personnel arrived at the scene and rescued the victims from the wreckage. Both individuals were rushed to Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.

Md. Shamim Sheikh, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanchpur Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter and said the bodies have been sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify the unknown vehicle involved. Legal actions are underway.
