KHULNA, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - Md. Moniruzzaman Montu, convener of Khulna district unit of BNP, today said peace and stability are essential for development and warned that BNP would take firm action against any attempt to disrupt public security and order.

Speaking at a rally in Dumuria ahead of an anti-terrorism procession, Montu alleged that conspiratorial and terrorist groups are trying to destabilize the country and vowed to resist threats to public safety.

He also said Bangladesh would not be handed over to "perpetrators of genocide."

Following the rally, a procession marched through Dumuria Sadar.

Separately, BNP leaders, activists and affiliated organizations staged a sit-in at Khulna's Zero Point, protesting anarchic and sabotage activities by Awami League, activities of which are banned.

The programme was led by Montu and Khulna District Jubo Dal Convener Ebadul Haque Rubayed.
