Four passengers rescued alive after bus falls into ravine in Teknaf

DHAKA, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - The Fire Service has rescued four passengers alive after a bus lost control and fell into a ravine in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar, following a call to the national emergency service '999'.

The information was provided in a press release signed by Police Inspector Anwar Sattar, media and public relations officer of the national emergency service 999.

According to the release, a caller informed 999 this morning from the Damdamia Keari Ghat Link Road in Teknaf upazila that a bus travelling from Cox's Bazar to Teknaf had lost control and fallen into a ditch, leaving several passengers trapped inside.

The matter was immediately communicated to Teknaf Fire Station and Teknaf Police Station.

It further said that a rescue team from Teknaf Fire Station quickly reached the spot and rescued a child, two women and one man alive from the fallen bus.

The rescued persons were identified as Anwara Begum, 40 and Maher, 10, both from the Rohingya camp and Azam, 30 and Morzina Begum, both residents of East Shikdar Para in Hnila. They were sent to hospital for treatment.
