KUSHTIA, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - Four individuals were detained for allegedly impersonating job applicants during a recruitment examination at the Kushtia Tax Zone Office.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon during the viva voce for the post of Office Assistant.

According to sources, members of the recruitment board became suspicious of the behavior of four candidates appearing for the oral examination and questioned them. Upon verification of their documents, it was found that they had participated in the examination on behalf of actual applicants by using forged admit cards with manipulated photographs.

During questioning, the four individuals reportedly confessed to acting as proxies for the genuine candidates. They were later handed over to Kushtia Model Police Station around midnight.

Police suspect that an organized syndicate is involved in arranging proxy test-takers in exchange for large sums of money. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify other individuals connected to the fraud and bring them to justice.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kabir Hossain Matubbar of Kushtia Model Police Station told BSS that legal action would be taken in coordination with the recruiting authority. He added that police are working to identify and apprehend other members of the network involved in the incident.
