1,505 marginal farmers get incentives in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, June 25, 2026 (BSS) - Agricultural incentives were distributed among small and marginal farmers of Sadar upazila here under the Agricultural Incentive Programme for the Kharif-2/2026 season of the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S.M.N. Jamiul Hikma inaugurated the programme as the chief guest held on Wednesday afternoon at the upazila parishad premises. Upazila Administration and Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) organised the event jointly.

Under the programme, a total of 1,505 small and marginal farmers received various agricultural inputs free of cost. Of them, 750 farmers were provided with transplanted Aman rice seeds and fertilizers, 120 farmers received chili seeds and fertilizers, while 635 farmers were given saplings of different tree species along with fertilizers and other agricultural inputs under a tree plantation initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, the UNO said agriculture remains one of the key driving forces of the country's economy. 

He said that the government has been implementing various agricultural incentive programmes to reduce production costs and increase crop yields. 

He also encouraged farmers to adopt modern agricultural technologies, make the best use of cultivable land, protect agricultural land and the environment, and cultivate high-yielding crop varieties to further enhance food security.

Among others present at the event were Upazila Agriculture Officer Tapan Roy, Sadar Upazila BNP President Shahjalal Mission, officials and staff of the Department of Agricultural Extension, local public representatives, farmers from different unions, and other distinguished guests.
