
RAJSHAHI, June 28, 2026 (BSS)- Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) arrested two accused in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act over a procession and chanting of provocative slogans under the banner of an organization whose activities are banned, in the Boalia Model Thana area in the city.
According to RMP sources, at around 4:45 AM on June 21, activists of the activities-banned organizations Bangladesh Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League gathered with banners at Ranibazar Tiles Potti intersection under Boalia Model Thana.
They held a procession chanting various provocative slogans and created a situation of fear and terror throughout the area.
Following the incident, a case was filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Boalia Model Thana naming eight individuals and 30-35 other unidentified persons as accused.
During the investigation, the identities of the accused were confirmed by reviewing information from local witnesses, video footage circulated on social media, and still images.
In continuation of this, early this morning, Boalia Thana Police conducted a raid in the Silinda Bottala area and arrested Rajib Sheikh, 36. He is the son of late Azizul Sheikh of Bakhtiarabad Malda Colony, Boalia Thana, and is the General Secretary of Swechchhasebak League of Ward No. 16, Rajshahi city.
Additionally, Boalia Thana Police conducted a raid in Sapura village and arrested Tanvir Ahmed Rahat, 20. He is the son of Md. Aslam of Sapura village, Boalia Thana, and is the Joint Secretary of Chhatra League, Boalia Thana West.
Both arrested individuals are identified during the investigation of the Anti-Terrorism Act case filed with Boalia Model Thana.
Operations by Boalia Model Thana Police are ongoing to arrest other absconding accused and identify the unknown individuals.
