MYMENSINGH, June 30, 2026 (BSS) - Information officials today highlighted the benefits of the

government's priority programmes at a press briefing in Mymensingh, urging wider media coverage to

increase public awareness.

The programmes discussed included the Farmers' Card, agricultural loan waiver, Family Card, canal

excavation and re-excavation, the proposed women-only "Pink Bus Service," and the tree plantation

programme.

Officials including District Information Director Mir Akram Uddin Ahmed said the Farmers' Card

provides farmers with subsidies, low-interest loans, insurance, training and easier access to

agricultural services.

They also noted that the government has waived loans of up to Tk 10,000 for around 1.2 million small

and marginal farmers.

The Family Card offers monthly cash assistance and subsidised essentials through TCB, while canal

restoration supports irrigation, flood control and agriculture.
The briefing also highlighted the environmental benefits of tree plantation and the proposed women-

operated electric bus service aimed at ensuring safer transport and creating jobs for women.
