DHAKA, June 30, 2026 (BSS) - Artist and cultural personality Mustafa Monwar was accorded a state guard of honour as people from all walks of life paid their final respects to him at the Central Shaheed Minar here today. 

His body was taken to the Central Shaheed Minar, where admirers, colleagues and members of the public gathered to bid adieu to the Ekushey Padak-winning artist. His body was later taken to the Central Mosque of Dhaka University, where his second Janaza was held.

Earlier in the morning, the first Janaza for the veteran artist and puppeteer was held on the Bangladesh Television (BTV) building premises in Rampura.

The body will next be taken to the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka, where Mustafa Monwar began his professional career. He will later be laid to rest at the Banani Graveyard.
