KHULNA, July 11, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna city BNP has announced that it will undertake emergency repairs of potholes on Shipyard Road on Sunday to restore communication in waterlogged areas, while intensifying relief and medical support for residents affected by heavy rainfall.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Khulna Metropolitan BNP's Disaster Management Committee and Health Cell held at the party office on KD Ghosh Road on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting, Khulna city BNP General Secretary and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Shafiqul Alam Tuhin said the party could not remain indifferent while thousands of city residents continued to suffer from severe waterlogging.

"BNP is not a party that sits comfortably in air-conditioned rooms while people are in distress. Even a packet of dry food or a bottle of safe drinking water can save a family in this difficult time," he said.

Tuhin directed members of the Disaster Management Committee and Health Cell to remain on maximum alert to ensure that residents in waterlogged areas receive necessary medical care. He also instructed party leaders and activists to assist all affected people regardless of political affiliation.

The meeting decided to keep BNP leaders and activists at the ward and thana levels engaged in monitoring affected areas, providing assistance and regularly updating the city leadership on the situation. It also expressed appreciation for party activists who repaired damaged road sections in Arongghata.

Residents requiring emergency medical assistance during the disaster were asked to contact the BNP Health Cell at 01715001955 or 01711017476.
