Pesticide shop fined Tk 10,000 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 14, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined a pesticide shop Taka 10,000 for selling expired, unapproved and overpriced pesticides at Dhurail Bazar in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi.

The mobile court conducted a drive at Messrs Bhai Bon Traders in Dhurail Bazar this morning. The operation was led by Mohanpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zobaida Sultana, with assistance from the Upazila Agriculture Department and Mohanpur Police Station.

During the drive, the allegations of selling expired products, tampering with product labels and selling unapproved pesticides were found to be true.

The owner of the establishment was subsequently fined Taka 10,000 under the relevant provisions of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

Mohanpur Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Shubho Bhowmik, Sub-Assistant Plant Protection Officer Mostafa Kamal, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers and other relevant officials were present.
