4 teachers served show-cause notices over HSC Physics question errors

DHAKA, July 14, 2026 (BSS) - Four college teachers who served as moderators for the question paper of the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Physics (Theory) First Paper examination have been served with show-cause notices over alleged errors and inconsistencies in the paper.

The teachers are- Prof Md Mujibur Rahman of the Physics Department at Sreemangal Government College, Asst. Prof. Kazi Junayed Al Amin of Brindaban Government College in Habiganj, Asst. Prof. Mochaddek Hossain Khan of Sylhet MC College and Lecturer Mohammad Helal Uddin of Sylhet Government Model School and College, said a letter issued by the Sylhet Education Board today.

According to the show-cause notices, errors and inconsistencies were detected in questions No. 6 and 7 of the creative section of the Physics (Theory) First Paper examination held on July 13 morning. 

The notices said such errors and inconsistencies in the question paper caused examinees to face severe mental stress in the examination halls.

The notices said allowing such errors and inconsistencies in the question paper were an act of gross irresponsibility and professional negligence on the part of responsible teachers and moderators. 

It also said the incident had tarnished the image of the Sylhet Education Board.

The teachers have been asked to submit written explanations within three working days of receiving the notices, stating why departmental action should not be taken against them for such serious errors and inconsistencies in moderating the question paper.
