THAKURGAON, July 20, 2026 (BSS) - A farmer was killed after being struck by lightning while working at his field in Sadar upazila here on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Fazlul Karim, 40, son of Mohsin Ali of Kachna village under Raipur Union of the upazila.

According to local residents and police, the incident occurred around 9.00 am at Harinda village. While he was working, the weather suddenly turned cloudy 
and intense lightning began. A lightning bolt struck him directly, causing severe burns to the left side of his body and below his neck. 

He died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Shahjahan Ali confirmed.
