MANIKGANJ, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS) - The district unit BNP here today held a discussion marking the 82nd birthday of former Prime Minister and party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The discussion was held at the Manikganj District BNP office, attended by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita as the chief guest and Manikganj-1 lawmaker SA Jinnah Kabir as the special guest.

Speaking at the programme, Afroza Khanam Rita said late Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was a symbol of democracy and never compromised on corruption and misrule.

The discussion was chaired by Advocate Azad Hossain Khan and addressed, among others, by Public Prosecutor Advocate AFM Nurtaj Alam Bahar and Advocate ATM Jahirul Alam Khan Lody.

Leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations attended the programme.

A special prayer was also held, seeking forgiveness and eternal peace for Khaleda Zia's departed soul. Khatme Quran was also arranged as part of the observance.
