NARSINGDI, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS) - A doa and milad mahfil was held in Palash upazila today to mark the 82nd birthday of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, seeking eternal peace for her departed soul.
Palash Upazila and Ghorashal Pourashava BNP and their affiliated organisations organised the programme at the Ghorashal Pourashava BNP office this afternoon.
The event began with recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a special munajat seeking forgiveness and eternal peace for Khaleda Zia and other members of the Zia family.
Palash Upazila BNP President Abdus Sattar presided over the programme, moderated by Ghorashal Pourashava BNP General Secretary Delwar Hossain.
Among others, Palash Upazila BNP General Secretary Professor Saiful Haque, Senior Joint General Secretary Bahauddin Bhuiyan Milton, Ghorashal Pourashava BNP President Alam Molla, Senior Vice-President Advocate Jasim Uddin, Vice-President Advocate Kaniz Fatema and leaders of BNP and its affiliated organisations attended.
Speaking at the programme, the leaders recalled Khaleda Zia's contributions to the country and its people. They also pledged to work under BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman to build a prosperous Bangladesh and fulfil the dreams of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.
