Three killed in Gopalganj road accident

GOPALGANJ, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) - Three people, including a woman, were killed and at least 18 others injured when a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch after losing control in Muksudpur upazila of the district this morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred around 10.30 am in Salinaboksha area on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.

According to locals, police said the passenger bus, heading towards Dhaka from Khulna, lost control and fell into a ditch beside the highway. 

Abdullah, an injured passenger, said the bus lost control due to the driver's excessive speed. Around 40 passengers were on board the bus at the time of the accident.

A duty doctor at Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex said 18 injured passengers were treated at the hospital. Of them, four were in critical condition and were referred to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muksudpur Police Station Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter and said the bodies had been recovered.

He said the identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained. The bodies would be handed over to their relatives after completion of the legal procedures.
