Man killed in Kishoreganj lightning strike

KISHOREGANJ, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) – A man was killed in a lightning strike while he was fishing in a haor in Ashtagram upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was Newton Das, 35, son of Srinanda Das of Chandipur village of the upazila.

Newton went to the haor in the morning to catch fish. Around 11.00 am, lightning suddenly struck him. He died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge of Ashtagram Police Station Md Rokonuzzaman confirmed the incident.
