Parliamentary committee clears APBn Bill for sending to JS

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Home Ministry today decided to send the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Bill, 2026 to the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) after reviewing and discussing the proposed legislation.

The decision was taken at the committee’s third meeting, chaired by its chairman Zainul Abedin, at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, said a press release.

The committee discussed the bill in detail before deciding to forward it to parliament for consideration.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, Whip Rakibul Islam, Md Kamruzzaman, Md Monwar Hossain, Shirin Sultana,Md Nurul Islam, Md Abdul Baten attended the meeting.

Senior officials, including the senior secretary of the Home Ministry, the inspector general of police and heads of departments and agencies under the ministry, were also present.
