Tk 51 lakh distributed among road accident victims’ families in Rajbari

RAJBARI, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) – Families of those killed and injured in road accidents in the district have received financial assistance totaling Taka 51 lakh from the Trustee Board of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to help ease their financial hardship.

The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the conference room of the Rajbari Deputy Commissioner’s office this morning. A total of 13 affected families received the cheques at the programme.

Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parveen attended the event as the chief guest while District magistrate Uchen May presided over it.

District magistrate Shankar Chandra Baidya, BRTA Rajbari Assistant Director Mohammad Wahidur Rahman and Sukumar Bhowmik, general secretary of the Rajbari Owners’ Group, were present as special guests.

DC Afroza Parveen assured the families that government assistance would continue in the future.

“We do not want any more families to suffer from road accidents,” she said, urging everyone to remain cautious while travelling on roads and help others stay safe.
