Over 1,000 people receive free medical services in Majhardiar

RAJSHAHI, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - More than 1,000 women, men and children received free medical services at a daylong health camp held in the Char Majhardiar area of Haripur Union under Paba Upazila in the district today.

Organised by the Paba Upazila Health Complex, the medical camp was inaugurated at 10 am on the premises of the Nurnahar Community Clinic.

Paba Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Asaduzzaman, along with doctors, officers and employees of various levels of the Upazila Health Complex, was present at the event.

 Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, Member of Parliament for the Paba-Mohanpur constituency and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Water Resources, joined the inaugural ceremony virtually as the chief guest and delivered his speech.

 He said there are 20 community clinics in the Paba-Mohanpur area. Initiatives have been taken to modernize these clinics, including the Nurnahar Community Clinic.

For the convenience of char residents, construction of paved roads is already underway to improve transportation. In the future, initiatives will be taken to build floating piers on the river and arrange fast-moving water vessels to ensure quick transportation of patients across the river.
He also urged doctors to take necessary measures to ensure that people living in the char areas receive regular healthcare services.

Milon further said that, to ensure education and healthcare for char residents, regular doctors at community clinics and regular teachers and classes at schools will be arranged.
Necessary steps will also be taken to ensure that people living in remote char areas can live safely.
