SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today said the government is taking initiatives to reform and modernise existing policies and management systems to make the field administration more citizen-friendly, transparent and accountable, efficient and service-oriented.  

“As part of these efforts, the Service Simplification Guidelines, 2026, Government Office Website Guidelines 2026 and guidelines for evaluating the performance of deputy commissioners have been formulated,” he said.

The Prime Minister said this while replying to a question from Chapainawabganj-3 lawmaker Md Nurul Islam during the question-answer session in parliament this afternoon with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram in the chair. The first half-hour of the session was allocated for the Prime Minister’s question-answer session.  

Replying to the question on government’s initiatives to reform policies to make the field administration more citizen-friendly and accountable, the Prime Minister said special emphasis is currently being given to service simplification, use of digital technology, performance monitoring, receiving and resolving complaints, inspection and supervision, public hearings, implementation of the Right to Information Act and improving the quality of citizen services.

He said various initiatives have also been taken, including D-Nothi, iBAS, e-Mutation, digital land management, e-GP, online general diaries (GD), e-Returns, e-Porcha, online collection of land development tax, and the national helplines 999 and 333.

The Prime Minister said the Government Performance Monitoring System (GPMS) has also been introduced for more effective monitoring and evaluation of government performance, while guidelines on the government performance monitoring system for the fiscal year 2026-27 have been issued.

He said online meetings are held every month with the Cabinet Division and different ministries and divisions to make the activities of the field administration more transparent and accountable.  

Expressing his firm commitment to further reforming and modernising the existing policies and systems, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said his government would continue to simplify service delivery, increase reliance on technology, ensure greater transparency and disclosure of information, expedite complaint resolution and strengthen results-based performance monitoring to make the field administration more citizen-friendly and citizen-centred.
