DHAKA, May 31, 2025 (BSS) - FactWatch, a Bangladesh-based independent fact-checking organization, has identified that a viral video showing a man being beaten while hanging has been falsely circulated on social media, claiming it to be an incident from Bangladesh.

According to a FactWatch investigation report, an 8-second video of a person being beaten while hanging is being shared on Facebook with various captions suggesting that the incident took place in Bangladesh. However, the incident originally occurred in India.

Their analysis further indicates that certain groups, both domestic and international, are intentionally spreading rumors and misinformation about Bangladesh. In April alone, FactWatch verified and identified 296 instances of misinformation circulating online.
