Journo Masumur Rahman Khalili’s mother passes away

DHAKA, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - Naya Diganta Executive Editor Masumur Rahman Khalili’s mother Momena Khatun died of old age complications this afternoon at a private hospital in the capital’s Uttara. 

She was 90, family sources said.

She is survived by three sons and five daughters.

Her eldest son, Mahfuzur Rahman Khalili, is a chartered accountant and expatriate in Canada. Her second son, Mamunur Rahman Khalili, is a retired additional secretary to the government and is currently serving as treasurer of the Islamic Arabic University in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. 

Her third son, Masumur Rahman Khalili, is the Executive Editor of the daily Naya Diganta and an international relations and geopolitical analyst.

The body of the deceased was taken to her ancestral home in Rampur village under Satkania upazila of Chattogram. 

She will be laid to eternal rest at a local graveyard following a namaz-e-janaza after Isha prayers on Thursday. 

On behalf of the Naya Diganta family, its Editor Salahuddin Muhammad Babar, along with all journalists, officers, and staff, expressed deep condolence at the death of Masumur Rahman Khalili’s mother. 

In a condolence message, the editor prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
