DHAKA, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - The government has ensured highest level of medical treatment for injured peacekeepers of Bangladesh Army in a recent drone attack on a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Abyei, Sudan.

“The highest level of medical treatment was ensured for all injured peacekeepers. Eight Bangladesh Army peacekeepers were initially injured in the drone attack that took place on December 13. Later, updated information confirmed that one more peacekeeper sustained injuries, raising the total number of injured personnel to nine,” said an ISPR release.

The injured peacekeepers were provided with immediate medical support and evacuated at the earliest possible time. They are currently undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

Among them, one peacekeeper has already been discharged after completing treatment, it said, adding, “All the injured personnel are now reported to be out of danger.”

It also said that the dead bodies of the six Bangladesh Army peacekeepers who were martyred in the terrorist attack are likely to be brought back to Dhaka on December 20. After their return, funeral and burial ceremonies will be conducted with due honour and dignity.

On December 13, six Bangladesh Army peacekeepers were martyred and nine others were injured in a drone attack carried out by a separatist armed group at the Kadugali Logistics Base under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Abyei area of Sudan while they were on duty.
