Rumors being spread against political parties through AI made videos

DHAKA, June 28, 2025 (BSS) – Factwatch, a private fact checking initiative based on Bangladesh, has identified that fake campaign using AI made videos against some political parties being spread meticulously to mislead the people.

Following digital investigation on the uses of AI made deepfake videos in political campaign and counter campaign, Factwatch reported that a number of misleading deepfake videos are being tailored and spread on different social media platforms specifically on Facebook and Tiktok.

The Factwatch also noted that the videos being manufactured using advanced AI technologies like Veo-3, text to speech.

The fake campaigns, broadly, include- anti-election contents, campaigns against BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, campaigns depicting unrest in the country, building opinions in favor of a specific political party.
