DHAKA, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - BanglaFact, the fact-checking team of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), has identified misinformation targeting the government over measles on a Facebook page linked to the Awami League.

BanglaFact said a post published on April 9 claimed the government had instructed hospitals and clinics nationwide not to disclose child deaths caused by measles, raising questions about the actual number of fatalities.

After verification, the team found the claim to be false, noting that no such directive exists.

It said the Directorate General of Health Services regularly publishes updated nationwide and divisional data on measles cases, including confirmed and suspected patients, admissions and discharges.

Fact-checkers observed that since the 2024 Mass Uprising, misinformation about Bangladesh has increased on social media platforms, often targeting the interim government, political groups and more recently, the BNP-led government.

BanglaFact continues to verify misleading claims and counter disinformation to ensure accurate information for the public.
