Festival of Youth celebrated in Nilphamari

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2025 (BSS)- With an aim to build a new Bangladesh, Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) celebrated the Festival of Youth 2025 in Nilphamari district today (Wednesday) keeping ahead the theme of “Let’s change the country, change the World”.  
 
The day-long programme included rally, voluntary blood donation, winter ‘pithapuli’, day-long exhibition open archery competition and indigenous cultural festival.

The programme began with a colorful rally, which started from deputy commissioner chattar and ended at high school ground after parading through Shilpakala Academy.

After the rally, Nilphamari deputy commissioner and district magistrate and Nilphamari District Sports Association president Mohammad Nayiruzzaman addressed the programme as the chief guest, presided over by Niplamari additional deputy commissioner (general) Joity Bikash Chandra.

Later, World Archery Asia first vice president and BAF founder, and general secretary Kazi Razib Uddin Ahmed Chapal formally inaugurated the Festival of Youth.  

After the inauguration ceremony, winter ‘pithapuli’ festival, folk music and folk dance were performed in the big field, followed by day-long exhibition and open archery competition.

A total of 24 archers including twelve men and equal number of women from six upazila archery teams including Nilphamari sadar, Syedpur, Dimla, Domar, Jaldhaka and Kishoreganj participated in the beginner archery competition at a distance of 10 meters.

Besides, three women archers -- Mosammat Shila Akter, Pradhana Roy and Prabhati Roy -- of Nilphamari district archery team participated in the recurve archery competition at a distance of 20 meters.

The BAF Federation will organize the programme of Festival of Youth at six more venues across the country later.
