THAKURGAON, Sept 7, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said there is no cause for concern regarding the upcoming national parliamentary elections.

“I don’t see any reason for concern about the national election. However, we are slightly worried, as some individuals or political parties are unnecessarily trying to create fear and confusion. But the people of Bangladesh will never support such ill intentions,” he said.

Fakhrul made the remarks while speaking to reporters during a visit to the venue of the Thakurgaon District BNP biennial conference, scheduled to be held tomorrow.

“The election will be held on time and will be acceptable to the people of the country,” he added.

Referring to the upcoming district conference, Fakhrul said, “During the tenure of the fascist government, over 75 cases were filed against BNP leaders and activists in Thakurgaon. Nearly 7,500 individuals were named as accused in these cases. Many had to appear in court and even go to jail. To avoid arrest, some had to hide in paddy fields. The Thakurgaon BNP had to endure this period under an apolitical, undemocratic, and oppressive environment.”

He further said, “We hope to hold a very successful conference. All preparations have been completed. Most importantly, our Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will address the event as the chief guest, which is a source of great joy and encouragement for BNP leaders and activists. We are hopeful that the conference will usher in a new horizon for the BNP.”

District BNP General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, Vice President Abu Taher, Municipal BNP President Shariful Islam, and leaders and activists from various associate bodies were present at the event.
