Tangail district makes winning start

DHAKA, Aug 22, 2025 (BSS) - Host Tangail district opened the Brahmaputra Zone National Kabaddi Championship with victories in both the men's and women's divisions held at Shaheed Maruf Stadium in Tangail today, marking the Festival of Youth 2025.

Seven teams are competing in the men's division and six in the women's division, divided into two groups. 

In the men's category, Tangail district defeated Manikganj district by 44-12, while in the women's category, Tangail overcame Gazipur district 54-8.

Abdullah Al Mamun, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Tangail, inaugurated the event as the chief guest.

This year's National Kabaddi Championship is being held across eight zones nationwide. Prior to the Brahmaputra zone, competitions in the Padma and Teesta zones were successfully completed.

The championship will conclude on Sunday (August 24) with the finals in both the men's and women's divisions.
