Youth Festival Football Tournament begins in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - On the occasion of Youth Festival, the Inter-
College Football Tournament- 2025 has been inaugurated at the district level 
in Rangpur with the theme "Come, let's change the country, let's change the 
world". 
 
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ramiz Alam inaugurated the meet 
in a function by releasing balloons and festoons at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed 
Stadium as the chief guest on Wednesday.
 
At the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Rangpur District 
Administration and District Sports Office are organising the tournament.
 
In his speech, Md Ramiz Alam said sports play a vital role in the physical 
and mental development of people. "Sports not only maintain physical fitness, 
but also keep the mind fresh and lively," he added. 
 
He expressed hope that through such tournaments, patriotism, discipline and 
positive mentality will be developed among the students. 
 
This Youth Festival initiative of the government and inter-college football 
tournament will be helpful in developing a sense of responsibility and 
leadership qualities among the youth, he mentioned. 
 
He urged the players to participate in various competitions regularly along 
with their studies to increase the sense of nationalism and mutual 
cooperation mentality. 
 
Rangpur District Sports Officer Md Masud Rana, officials of various 
government departments, competitors, teachers and students of related 
institutions and journalists were present at the event. 
 
Sixteen college football teams from eight upazilas of Rangpur district are 
participating in this competition. 
 
Rangpur Police Lines School and College and Carmichael Collegiate School and 
College teams faced each other in the inaugural game.
