MUNSHIGANJ, Sept 7, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said criminals and terrorists have no place in the country.
"There will be no room for criminals in the country," he told journalists on Saturday after visiting the temporary police camp at Guagachia under Gazaria Police Station that recently came under attack by the robber gang of Nayan and Piyas.
The Home Adviser said Nayan and Piyas have fled to a neighbouring country. "If they return, their place will be in the Keraniganj Central Jail," he added.
On the demand of locals for a permanent police camp at Guagachia, he said steps have already been taken to make the temporary camp permanent. "The camp will play an important role in maintaining law and order in the area," he added.
Replying to another query, Jahangir said the government is determined to keep the law and order situation under control.
Regarding the recovery of illegal arms, the Home Adviser said, "We are working to seize illegal weapons. Rewards have been declared. Police patrols, including river routes, will be strengthened further to ensure law and order."
Jahangir, who also serves as Agriculture Adviser, said the government has fixed the cold storage potato price at Taka 22 per kilogram so that farmers get a fair price.
"The potato price will come down. If necessary, the government will purchase more than 50,000 tonnes of potatoes," he added.
