DHAKA, Jan 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Under-19 Women's team ended their T20 World Cup mission with a victory when they crushed West Indies by 10 wickets at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today.

The victory came in a day when their senior Women's team suffered an eight-wicket defeat to the same opponents in St Kitts, West Indies.

The match was hit by rain and eventually reduced it to a 13-over game. Bangladesh won the toss and put West Indies into bat first.

Thanks to an excellent bowling of Nishita Akter Nishi who scalped 3-11, Bangladesh restricted West Indies to 54-6. Anisa Akter Sobha complemented Nishi with 2-13.

Amrita Ramtahal was the top-scorer for West Indies with 16 not out while Naijanni Cumberbatch made 13.

Bangladesh reached 55 for no loss for a victory in 8.5 overs with Juairiya Ferdous making highest 25 not out and Fahomida Choya adding an unbeaten 14.

Bangladesh won three out of five matches in the tournament but despite their sterling effort they couldn't make it to the semi-final.

The young Tigresses beat Scotland and Nepal in the group before losing to Australia. However, they made it to Super Six where they got the opportunity to play two matches. In the first match, they lost to India that eventually led their exit from the semifinal race.
