DHAKA, Jan 28, 2025 (BSS) - In a bid to keep their playoff hopes alive, Chittagong Kings will take on mighty Rangpur Riders in a crucial Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) game tomorrow (Wednesday) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Chittagong currently hold the fourth spot in the point table with 10 points from nine matches but a defeat would leave them in cornered position in making the playoffs.

Rangpur Riders and Fortune Barishal are at top two spots with 16 points with the former occupying the top spot based on net run rate. Durbar Rajshahi, however moved to third spot, thanks to their three wins in a row of late. After finishing the group phase, Rajshahi have 12 points from 12 matches.

While Dhaka Capital and Sylhet Strikers are now out of the race, Rajshahi, Chittagong and Khulna are vying for the third and fourth spot.

If Chittagong win tomorrow’s match, they will make a giant stride toward the playoffs.

Khulna Tigers with eight points from 10 matches are at fifth position and also at the most vulnerable spot at this moment. They will take the field on Thursday with the game against Rangpur Riders. If they loss that match, Rajshahi will move to the playoffs straightway.

Rangpur however moved to the playoffs as the first team after winning eight matches in a row.  But later they lost two matches on the trot, which left their aspiration to finish top two at limbo.

They will certainly want to get back to winning way by defeating Chittagong in tomorrow’s game.

In the day’s other match, Fortune Barishal will take on Dhaka Capital at the same venue. While Dhaka were already eliminated from the race, there is much to gain for Barishal in this match. In case of a victory, they can raise their hopes of securing top two finish.
