Bangladeshi youths to take good position in ICT sector: BRUR VC

RANGPUR, June 17, 2025 (BSS) – Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali has said skilled Bangladeshi youth will take a good position in the global ICT sector in the near future.
 
“The importance of information and communication technology (ICT) in developing relations between Bangladesh and various countries of the world is immense...The ICT has now become an important driving force in the country's economy,” he said.
 
The Vice-chancellor was speaking as the chief guest at the award giving ceremony of the regional round of the National High School Programming Competition at the university’s cafeteria on Tuesday.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division and the Bangladesh Computer Council jointly organised the event.
 
Students from various high school level educational institutions of all eight districts of Rangpur region participated in the National High School Programming Competition 2025 in a festive atmosphere.
 
The VC said that winning medals in any competition is not important, but rather participating in the competition and gaining experience is the main thing. 
 
Addressing parents, he said that when it comes to involving their young children in creative activities, they should prioritize their own interests.
 
“The ICT sector has become a visible source of not only technological development, but also economic growth. Young students should be encouraged to become proficient in ICT,” he said.
 
Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Director of the Office of the Student Affairs Professor Dr Md Ilias Pramanik presided over the event.
 
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of BRUR Professor Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, and Deputy Secretary (ICT Promotion Branch) of the ICT Division Md Siddiqure Rahman Talukder were present as special guests. 
 
At this time, the Vice-chancellor with the invited guests distributed prizes and citations among the winners of the programming contest, ICT quiz and chess competition.
