Russia sentences four journalists to 5 years, 6 months for associating with Navalny: AFP

MOSCOW, April 15, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Russia on Tuesday sentenced four journalists it said were associated with late opposition leader Alexei Navalny to five years and six months in prison, intensifying a crackdown on press freedom and Kremlin critics.

Judge Natalya Borisenkova at Moscow's Nagatinsky district court pronounced guilty verdicts in the trial of reporters Antonina Kravtsova, Konstantin Gabov, Sergei Karelin and Artem Kriger and sentenced them to "5 years and six months in a general-regime penal colony", an AFP journalist heard.
