Power division gives Tk. 25 lakh to 25 martyrs, injured families

DHAKA, Aug 03, 2025 (BSS) - The power division of the energy ministry today said it provided Tk 25 lakh to 25 injured persons and families of the martyrs in the July uprising.

A total of 25 people received today the amount and of them 17 are martyred families, four persons who lost their eyesight and four people who were seriously injured during the July movement last year.

The power division provided a cheque of Tk. 1,00,000 to each of the July uprising martyred and injured persons.

Earlier, on April 20, 2025, the division also gave a cheque of Tk. 1.05 crore to the July Memorial Foundation.

The power division staged a discussion and special prayer to mark the cheque distribution in a function titled 'July Rebirth Programme 2025' while senior secretary of Power Division Farzana Mamtaz was present as the chief guest.

She paid deep tribute to the martyrs and prayed for forgiveness of their departed souls.

Mamtaz called upon all government and private officials and employees to fulfill their responsibilities in building a corruption-free, discrimination-free and justice-based society realizing the sacrifice of the martyrs and the injured.

She also assured to stand by the families of the July martyrs and the injured in the future.

Rahidun Sajba Banu, wife of martyr Md Jan Sharif, said that her daughter's paternal love and cruelty inflicted on their family could not be compensated with any donation.

She said that the martyrs sacrificed their lives being motivated by patriotism, but currently nobody was caring how the families were running.

Injured July fighter Md Fayez, who lost an eye, described in details the horrific incident happened to him.

Another injured fighter Md Rakib Hossain said that proper trial and proper treatment of the injured should be arranged after a proper investigation into the incident that happened to them.

Additional Secretary Md Sabur Hossain delivered the welcome speech while Additional Secretary and Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board also participated in the commemorative discussion.

Later, special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of July martyrs and early recovery of injured July soldiers.

Participants also sought welfare of people of the country.
