PATUAKHALI, Feb 3, 2026 (BSS) - , has pledged to stop terrorism, drugs, and extortion.

He also spoke about modernisation in the agricultural sector, creation of employment opportunities for unemployed youth and developing Kuakata as a modern tourist town.

Dr Mostafizur Rahman is a former two-time upazila chairman of the constituency. His profession is business.

He made the pledges in an interview given with Patuakhali District roaming correspondent Enamul Haque Ena.

BSS: What are your electoral promises for the voters of your area?

Mostafizur Rahman: If I am elected, I will first create a livable and peaceful environment for the people of this constituency. I will adopt a zero tolerance policy to eradicate terrorism, corruption, extortion and drugs. My commitment is to ensure a safe society for everyone regardless of party, opinion, religion or caste. Along with this, I will work for modernisation in the agricultural sector, creation of employment for unemployed youth, development of Kuakata as a modern tourist city, improvement of healthcare standards and full implementation of Payra Port. In addition, I will try to resolve various crises of fishermen.

BSS: Do you have any instructions for your party leaders and activists to follow the election code of conduct?

Mostafizur Rahman: Of course, there is. I have clearly instructed my party leaders and activists to strictly follow the election code of conduct. We want a free, fair and acceptable election, where the people can exercise their right to vote without any hindrance.

BSS: What is your personal position on the July Charter and the referendum?

Mostafizur Rahman: My party's position and mine are the same on the July Charter and the referendum. We want reforms so that no dictatorial regime can rise in the future. We believe that a referendum is necessary to implement the principles of justice and Islam. I call upon the voters to vote 'Yes' in the referendum and at the same time vote for the hand-fan (Hat Pakha) symbol.

BSS: What are your expectations in the upcoming elections?

Mostafizur Rahman: My expectation is that the hopes and aspirations of the people created through the July Revolution - a new Bangladesh, a new settlement - will be realised. We want to work together with everyone to implement the July Charter.
