NATORE, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate for Natore-3 (Singra) constituency Mohammad Khalilur Rahman wants to implement the policy of “Jal jar, jola tar” (those who have the nets should have the water bodies) in the Chalan Beel area.
He also wants to work with all to build a model society.
Mohammad Khalilur Rahman is the Vice President of the Natore District unit of Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
BSS correspondent Faraji Ahmed Rafiq Baban interviewed Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate Mohammad Khalilur Rahman where he shared his plans for the development of his constituency.
BSS: What are your election promises for the voters of your constituency?
Mohammad Khalilur Rahman: I am with the people and want to stand by them in both their happiness and sorrow. I want to build a society free from drugs, extortion, terrorism, and corruption. I want to build a model society by involving everyone.
Singra, which is dominated by the Chalan Beel, is full of numerous canals and wetlands. In the past, we saw the situation of “might is right”—those with power controlled the canals and the beels. I want to overcome this situation and implement the policy of “those who have the nets should have the water bodies.”
In recent times, we have seen that heavy rainfall causes waterlogging in the beels, but there is no proper drainage system. I want to take initiatives to establish drainage to resolve waterlogging in Chalan Beel. Besides, I want to ensure crop production in Chalan Beel by supplying fertilizers and seeds to farmers on time.
BSS: What instructions have you given to your leaders and activists regarding compliance with the election code of conduct?
Mohammad Khalilur Rahman: We are conducting election campaigns in compliance with the code of conduct. I have given the same instructions to party leaders and activists, and they are also staying within the rules. In the future as well, all our activities will be conducted in accordance with the code of conduct.
BSS: What is your position on the referendum on the July Charter?
Mohammad Khalilur Rahman: We have long been vocal about implementing the legal basis of the July Charter, and our position remains unchanged. Along with seeking votes for the Hand Fan symbol during the election campaign, we are also requesting voters to cast a “Yes” vote in the referendum.
BSS: What are your expectations regarding the upcoming parliamentary election?
Mohammad Khalilur Rahman: So far, the administration and law enforcement agencies are performing their duties properly. If this continues and a free and fair election is ensured, voters will cast their votes in favor of Islam for the ‘Hand Fan’ symbol and elect me by a large margin.
The Natore-3 constituency consists of one municipality and 12 unions of Singra upazila. There are 118 polling centers. The total number of voters in the constituency is 326,872, including 164,087 men, 162,781 women, and 4 third-gender voters.
Besides Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, the other five candidates contesting in this constituency are BNP’s Principal Mohammad Anwarul Islam Anu with Sheaf of Paddy, National Citizen Party’s (NCP) S. M. Zarjis Kadir with Shapla Koli, Jatiya Party’s Mohammad Ashiq Iqbal with Plough, independent candidates Mohammad Delwar Hossain Pasha with Football, and Mohammad Daudar Mahmud with Horse symbol.
