SANGSAD BHABAN, March 12, 2026 (BSS) – Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed today said a discrimination-free Bangladesh would be built in line with the vision of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

“A discrimination-free Bangladesh will be built as envisioned by former Prime Minister and ‘Deshnetri’ Begum Khaleda Zia for overall development of the country,” he said.

Taking part in a discussion on a condolence motion in the maiden session of the 13th National Parliament, Salahuddin Ahmed paid tribute to Begum Khaleda Zia and several others noted political and social personalities, who had recently passed away.

Recalling her political legacy, he highlighted Khaleda Zia’s role in restoring democratic values in the country and said she provided leadership role during critical moments of the nation’s political history.

Ahmed also noted that Khaleda Zia played a significant leadership role during the July Mass Uprising in 2024.

The senior BNP leader recalled the great contributions of the Liberation War of 1971 and July Mass Uprising of 2024 with due honour and respect, vowing to build a Bangladesh of their aspirations.
The condolence motion in parliament honored the contributions of the departed leaders and acknowledged their roles in shaping the nation’s political and social landscape, he added.
