SANGSAD BHABAN, June 28, 2026 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad Whip Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu today said the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026–27 is not merely an annual statement of government income and expenditure, but a clear reflection of the vision for building a just state and ensuring the welfare of the people.

He made the remarks while taking part in the general discussion on the proposed national budget for FY2026–27 in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The Whip said the first budget formulated under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has provided a new direction for the country’s development, social justice and economic progress.

Congratulating the Prime Minister on his successful visits to Malaysia and China, Dulu said the tours would play an important role in strengthening Bangladesh’s diplomatic and economic relations.

He said a national budget reflects the economic philosophy of a government, adding that Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, through the proposed budget, has prioritised balanced distribution of state resources, human resource development, social infrastructure and economic growth.

Dulu said former Finance Minister M. Saifur Rahman had made historic contributions to strengthening Bangladesh’s economic foundation by introducing the back-to-back letter of credit (L/C) system, bonded warehouse facilities, private banks and the Value Added Tax (VAT), ushering in a new era in the country’s economy.

He said the present government is continuing that legacy by working towards building a strong economy based on domestic resources.

The Whip said the proposed budget is a practical reflection of the plans Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had presented to the people ahead of the election, adding that the government’s economic strategy has been designed with public welfare, justice and sustainable development at its core.

He also said the Prime Minister has pledged to govern the country in line with the principles outlined in the Farewell Sermon of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), including equality, human rights, social justice, women’s dignity, workers’ rights, economic fairness and politics free from vengeance.

According to Dulu, the implementation of these values would help build a humane and welfare-oriented state.

Expressing optimism, he said successful implementation of the proposed budget under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister would further strengthen the country’s economy and enable the government to fulfil the expectations of the people.
