Ten more parliamentary committees constituted

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) - Ten more parliamentary standing committees on different ministries were formed in the Jatiya Sangsad today while another committee was reconstituted.

With this, the total number of committees formed so far in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad reached 36.

Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam Moni placed separate proposals for the formation and reconstitution of the committees before the House at the end of Sunday's sitting. 

The proposals were subsequently approved by voice votes.

Of the 50 parliamentary committees in the current Parliament, 39 are ministry-related standing committees and 11 are related to Parliament itself.

With Sunday's formation of 10 more committees, a total of 36 committees have been constituted, including 30 ministry-related standing committees.

The parliamentary committee on agriculture ministry was reconstituted, making Md. Shahadat Hossain (Laxmipur-1) as its chairman.

The ten newly constituted committees include the parliamentary standing committee on disaster management and relief ministry, headed by Munshi Rafiqul Alam (Feni-1); the parliamentary committee on local government, rural development and cooperatives ministry, headed by AKM Selim Reza Habib (Pabna-2); the parliamentary committee on Labour and Employment Ministry, headed by Md. Shamsur Rahman Simul Biswas (Pabna-5); the parliamentary committee on food ministry, headed by Abdus Salam Pintu (Tangail-2); the parliamentary committee on youth and sports ministry, headed by Md Abul Khair Bhuiyan (Laxmipur-2) and the parliamentary committee on shipping ministry, headed by Zainul Abdin Farroque (Naokhali-2).

The other newly constituted bodies are the parliamentary committee on fisheries and livestock ministry, headed by Khairul Kabir Khokon (Narsingdi-1); the parliamentary committee on primary and mass education ministry, headed by Mahmuda Habib (Women Seat-13); the parliamentary committee on cultural affairs ministry, headed by Md. Barkat Ullah Bulu (Naokhali-3) and the parliamentary committee on Chittagong Hill Tracts Ministry, headed by Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan (Khagrachhari).
