DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the demise of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
In a condolence message, he said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia made significant contributions to the Bangladesh's democratic movement and struggle.
"Her role in the restoration of multi-party democracy, the people's right to vote and the movement against dictatorship will be remembered in history," he said.
The Jamaat Ameer said Khaleda Zia has left a unique identity in the country's political arena for her strong leadership and firm political stance.
"The nation will remember Begum Khaleda Zia's contribution to the anti-hegemonic movement and struggle with respect. I express my deep shock and condolences at her death," he said.
Dr Shafiqur added, "May Allah Almighty forgive her mistakes and grant her Jannatul Firdous, and grant her bereaved family, relatives and colleagues the strength to endure this difficult time, Ameen."
