Jahangir urges BGB to deal border issues with utmost professionalism

DHAKA, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS) - Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today asked members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to demonstrate maximum professionalism and competence in resolving border issues with neighboring countries to ensure cent percent protection of national interests.

He said this while speaking as chief the guest at the BGB Day-2025 and medal presentation ceremony at BGB Headquarters in Pilkhana.

The Home Adviser emphasized on discipline, training and welfare of the BGB members, and instructed them to remain vigilant against drug trafficking, smuggling and cross-border crimes. He warned of strict legal action against anyone assisting smugglers or traffickers.

The adviser also asked the BGB to play their role for making the coming national election free, fair and peaceful and preventing criminals or terrorists from fleeing the country through borders.

He stressed on loyalty of all members to the chain of command and professionalism in maintaining internal law and order.

Later, he awarded 72 BGB members with various medals for their outstanding services and attended a reception arranged for freedom fighters of BGB and their families. 

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Nasimul Ghani and Director General of BGB Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui were present.
