DHAKA, Sept 1, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today showed former senior secretary of the ICT Division, NM Ziaul Alam, arrested in a case filed over the killing of Md Rustom during the July Mass Uprising in the capital's Mirpur area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Israt Jenifer passed the order as police produced Ziaul before the court and pleaded to show him arrested in the case. The court later sent him back to jail.

Earlier, police arrested the former senior secretary on March 5, 2025, from Panchlaish area of Chattogram city.

According to the case documents, Rustom took part in the anti-discrimination student movement rally in front of Shah Ali Plaza Market at Mirpur-10 on July 19, 2024. 

He sustained bullet injuries in an attack on the rally and later succumbed to his wounds. The case was filed with Kafrul Police Station on May 30, 2025.
