
DHAKA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today issued arrest warrants against 102 accused, including former ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a case filed over shooting death of fish trader Nabi Nur Morol during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Savar.
Additional Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mohiuddin issued the arrest warrants after taking cognizance of the charge-sheet. The court fixed February 26 next year for submitting the execution report of the warrants.
Apart from Sheikh Hasina, the notable accused against whom arrest warrants were issued included former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Savar Upazila Parishad chairman Manjurul Alam Rajib, former Savar Pourasava mayor Haji Abdul Gani, former Tetuljhora union parishad chairman Fakhrul Alam Samor, former councillor Nazrul Islam Manik Molla, and activity banned Awami League Ashulia thana president Faruk Hasan Tuhin .
According to the case statement, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 20, 2024, the accused allegedly shot fish trader Nabi Nur Morol in Savar. He was taken to Savar’s Enam Medical College Hospital where he died the following day, July 21, while undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, the victim’s wife Akhlima Begum, 40, filed a murder case with Savar Model Police Station on September 4, 2024. Upon completion of investigation, a charge-sheet against 114 accused, including Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader, was submitted on September 9 this year.
Among the 114 charge-sheeted accused, former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam, former state minister for Disaster Management And Relief Dr Enamur Rahman and five others are currently in jail. Five accused are out on bail granted by the High Court. As 102 accused, including Sheikh Hasina, remained absconding, the court issued arrest warrants against them.
