Arrest warrant against 3 doctors over Ayaan's post-circumcision death

DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS)- A court here today issued arrest warrants against 
three doctors in connection with the death of five-year old Ayaan Ahmed 
following a circumcision at United Hospital in the Satarkul area under Badda 
of the capital.

The accused are surgeon Tasnuva Mahjabin, anaesthesia specialist Syed Sabbir 
Ahmed, and assistant anaesthesia specialist Md Nazim Uddin.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order after 
accepting the formal charge filed by the police.

According to the case documents, Ayaan was taken to the United Medical 
College Hospital for circumcision on December 31, 2023. After receiving 
anaesthesia before the surgery, he never regained consciousness.

He remained on life support for seven days and died at the hospital on 
January 8.

His father, Shamim Ahmed, filed the case with Badda Police Station on January 
9, 2024. Following an investigation, police filed the formal charge today.
