DHAKA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - Canada has expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh's growing aviation sector, particularly in airport infrastructure development through soft loan facilities.

The interest was conveyed during a courtesy call by Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Ajit Singh on Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan at the CAAB headquarters in the capital today.

"They (Canada) have shown interest in aviation sector investment and I have advised the High Commissioner to place a formal proposal. If it proves feasible, we are open to working together for the advancement of Bangladesh's aviation sector," CAAB Chairman Bhuiyan told BSS following the meeting.

Discussions covered the ongoing infrastructure development at key airports, including Cox's Bazar, the operational activities at the existing cargo village, and CAAB's long-term expansion plans.

The two sides also exchanged views on broadening bilateral cooperation in aviation, as both Dhaka and Ottawa seek to deepen engagement in infrastructure and connectivity.

Senior officials from CAAB and representatives of the Canadian High Commission were present during the meeting.
