DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 15,393 individuals injured during the July uprising have received medical care under government supervision.
Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar told a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in the city.
Currently, 338 people are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country. As part of the government's continued efforts to ensure advanced care, 51 wounded July fighters have been sent to Singapore, Thailand and Russia for specialized treatment.
The government has so far spent Taka 61.02 crore for the medicare of those injured in the uprising, Majumdar said.
Besides, preparations are underway to send another group of 28 fighters to Singapore, Thailand and Turkey for advanced medical treatment.
To further strengthen medical services at home, the government has brought 26 specialist doctors from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Singapore, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Nepal.
These doctors provided free consultation services at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) and the National Institute of Opthalmology and Hospital, where many of the wounded are currently receiving treatment.
The government has made significant progress in ensuring the welfare of the families of martyrs and the injured in the July Uprising with financial aid, medicare and long-term support measures already underway.
Out of the 834 families of those martyred in the uprising, 630 families have each received bank cheques for Tk 10 lakh, totaling Taka 63 crore.
This financial assistance is aimed at providing savings certificates for long-term security. The process of issuing savings certificates to the remaining families is ongoing, subject to the final determination of legal heirs.
Financial Assistance to the Injured:
The government has also provided financial assistance to the injured ones under some categories based on the severity of their injuries.
Category A: 493 individuals have received Tk 2 lakh each (cheque), totaling Tk 9.86 crore.
Category B: 208 individuals have received Tk 1 lakh each (cheque), totaling Tk 9.08 crore.
Category C: 10,642 individuals have each received a one-time payment of Tk 1 lakh (cheque), amounting to Tk 106.42 crore.
In total, Tk 285.18 crore has been spent so far for medical treatment, savings certificates for martyr families and financial aid for injured individuals across all three categories.
Upcoming Support for the Next Fiscal Year:
The government has outlined a continued support plan for the upcoming fiscal year, including:
Martyr Families: Each family will receive an additional Tk 20 lakh in savings certificates, along with a monthly allowance of Tk 20,000.
Injured (Category A): Will receive remaining Tk 3 lakh and a monthly allowance of Tk 20,000.
Injured (Category B): Will receive Tk remaining 2 lakh and a monthly allowance of Tk 15,000.
Injured (Category C): Will receive a monthly allowance of Tk 10,000.
