Asif seeks enhancing sports cooperation between Dhaka & Rabat

DHAKA, July 3, 2025 (BSS) - A bilateral meeting was held in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, between Bangladesh Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Moroccan Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports Mohammed Saad Berrada on Wednesday.

At the onset of the meeting, Minister Mohammed Saad Berrada highlighted Morocco’s integrated education and sports framework, according to a message received here. 
He made special mention of Morocco’s “Study and Sports” model, which plays a significant role in reducing school dropout rates among students. 

He also emphasised the country’s policy and institutional initiatives to expand access to preschool education.

Adviser Asif Mahmud expressed appreciation for the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and congratulated Morocco on its notable achievements in the fields of education and sports. 

He remarked, “Morocco’s integrated model of education and sports can serve as an international role model.”

Asif Mahmud proposed enhancing sports cooperation through technical support, training, and experience sharing, and called for deeper engagement between the two countries as leading members of the Muslim world.

He also proposed organising a friendly football match between the national teams of Bangladesh and Morocco and extended an invitation to Berrada to participate in the Global Youth Summit 2025.

In response, the Moroccan Minister praised Bangladesh’s recent progress in education and youth development. 

He stated that Morocco is giving particular importance to preschool education and is working to make classrooms more engaging and conducive to learning through the use of digital technologies. 

He also mentioned that academic data for students is now being stored in a national database, which aids in policymaking and monitoring.

Both parties expressed optimism that this meeting would further strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh and Morocco in the fields of education and sports and deepen the bilateral relationship in the coming years.
