Interim govt is pledge-bound to hold election: AFM Khalid

BANDARBAN, July 5, 2025(BSS) - Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid today said the interim government is pledge-bound to hold the general election in the country.

"The Chief Adviser has already made an announcement about the general election and the polls will be held as per his declaration," he told journalists after laying the foundation stone for constructing the District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre here. Local Muslim Welfare Association organized the programme.

The adviser said that the model mosque and cultural centre will play a positive role in flourishing morality and establishing values. 

If the people go to the mosque, tendency of crime will reduce in society, he said, adding that it is mentioned in the holy Quran that the namaz protects the human being from the vulgarism.

Among others, Additional Secretary of the ministry Mohammad Abdul Awal Hawlader, Chairman of CHT District Board Prof Thanjama Lusai, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shamim Ara Rini, Police Super (SP) Shahidullah Kawser, Administrator of local pourashava SM Manjurul Haque and Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation, were present at the function.

The government has been constructing the district model mosque and Islamic cultural centre at Meghla Parjaton Area at a cost of Taka 16 crore.
